Substitute the default values with your name, company, email etc.

STEP: 2  Configure the Perl Scripts

 Try with the default value 

The first line of the Perl Scripts specify the location of PERL in your webhost.
The Default value is: #!/usr/bin/perl
Generally this is the location in almost all servers. 
In some cases this may be; #!/usr/sbin/perl

You don't have to change the default value if the Script works properly.

STEP: 3  Upload Files to your Webhost

Create a folder in the website root named 'santa'

Upload all files from the 'WebsiteFiles' folder to the newly created 'santa' folder in your website.  (Images and MIDI file must be uploaded in Binery mode)

Now your Santa Website files will be at:

https://www.tradebit.comrWebsite/santa/

Create another folder inside the /cgi-bin/ with the same name 'santa'

Upload all files from the 'Scripts' folder to that newly created folder in ASCII mode.

Now your Scripts will be at:

https://www.tradebit.comrWebsite/cgi-bin/santa/

All Perl scripts and supported files must be uploaded in ASCII (PLAIN TEXT) MODE.

If you uploaded in Binary mode by mistake, scripts will not work. 

STEP: 4  Set Permission (CHMOD)

Set the CHMOD (global execute permissions) to 755 to the following Scripts:

https://www.tradebit.com   and   https://www.tradebit.com

Set the CHMOD (global execute permissions) to 777 to all other files:

STEP: 5  Start Using the Script

Load the Santa Letter Website in your browser as follows:

https://www.tradebit.com

PS: Substitite https://www.tradebit.com with actual domain of your site.

 

Fill-up the form and create a letter with your own name, email etc. and see how it works.

Verify whether all variables are customized, the images are appeared and the music has been loaded.  If it doesn't work, please recheck the Setup.txt file for any typing mistakes.

 

For Advanced Users

We have provided the following templates to change the look and style of all pages and email messages.

You can modify the email messages by modifying the above email templates.

You can modify the content of the Letter by modifying the above HTML templates.

 

Database File

 

Details of all users will be stored into a CSV database 'https://www.tradebit.com'

You can download this file and open using any Spreadsheet programs like MS Excel.

 

Customer Support

 

When you experience a problem in installation that gives you an error, it is suggested that you back up and start at the beginning with a clean unedited copy of the script. Always save a clean copy of any script that you intend to install.
